Governing Boards and Multicampus Systems
I have had considerable experience working with Governing/Regents Boards and university system wide administration. At Penn State I had responsibilities that spanned 18 of the regional campuses, worked extensively with each campuses' CEO and CAO, and served on many system wide committees. At Stony Brook, a dual campus institution, I was the inaugural co-chair of the SUNY-wide Learning Assessment Advisory Group and chaired a special system wide task force on teaching and learning. As Vice Provost at Mercy College I had to coordinate faculty and academic programs across four campuses. In addition to its main campus in Kansas, FHSU has two campuses in China and was developing a third in Cambodia.
Board and Government Relations
During the 2015/16 year I chaired the Council of Chief Academic Officers and co-chaired the System Council of Chief Academic Officers (includes all community and technical colleges) of the Kansas Board of Regents. These bodies coordinate all academic programs and policy across the entire state. At Mercy I was a member of the Board Academic Affairs Committee and presented regularly on academic program and funding proposals. I was also liaison to the State Department of Education and in that role managed new program and degree proposals. As part of my consulting project at Fairmont University I met with state senators and representatives, including the President of the Senate, Majority and Minority Whips, and Chair of the Education Committee to discuss and promote significant changes at the University.
